ICAN Short Breaks - Individual Activities
This service aims to match a child or young person with a specific need to an experienced enabler who can help them access leisure activities in the community and allow families time away from their caring duties.
CAN offers a flexible and family centred programme, for example we can offer a weekly session after school so that the young person can access swimming lessons, and the same enabler can work with child at the holiday club for a day a week; or an enabler can work during the day with a child once a month and babysit once a week whilst a parent does an evening course.
To access the service please contact us at the office or talk to your keyworker.
ICAN Short Breaks - Social Activities
When we were researching the I CAN service, families said that going bowling would be fun but even more fun with a group. So with our 13-seater minibus we go on adventures.
They take place on Sundays, usually last for 5 to 6 hours and cost around £50 depending on where we go.
The friendships that have developed have been brilliant and everyone is very supportive.
Recent trips have included going to The Milky Way Adventure Park; boat ride, aquarium and fish & chips in Ilfracombe; @Bristol; and taking a train to Exeter for Christmas shopping.
